Navratri Puja Vidhi (Rituals):

During Navratri, devotees engage in various rituals to honor Goddess Durga. The nine-day period involves fasting, cleanliness, devotional singing, and recitation of mantras. On the first day, devotees clean their homes, decorate the entrance with Swastika symbols, and adorn the doors with mango or Ashoka leaves to signify prosperity. They set up an altar with an image or idol of Goddess Durga, accompanied by a depiction of Lord Ganesha. Offerings such as barley, considered a symbol of prosperity, are made. Even if one doesn’t know any specific mantras, reciting the Navarna mantra “Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche” from the Durga Saptashati is considered auspicious.
Each day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of a specific deity. On the first day, Ghatasthapana is performed, where a sacred Kalash (pot) filled with barley seeds symbolizing Goddess Durga is established. Devotees observe a nine-day fast, perform Aarti (ritual of worship) twice a day, and participate in traditional folk dances like Garba and Dandiya.
